Scott K and Jeff P have started a new venture

News Release –

Scott K and Jeff P have started a new venture

San Jose, CA – A new production company called SonicKnife Productions launches today in San Jose, California. Musicians and long time friends Scott K and Jeff P are no strangers when it comes to producing and performing music. Scott and Jeff have gone to the next level in endeavoring to create and spearhead their very own production company. Also skilled as songwriters, their newly formed company, SonicKnife Productions, is the definition of music of the future. It is the creative force behind future and current great artists including Dirty Little Buddha, Drive Machine, LoveKraft and the list goes on.

Scott Kusayanagi actually started out as a drummer performing at numerous clubs but it was his dad who put a guitar in his hand so they could gig together. Soon Scott was not only playing guitar but singing lead. With multiple projects he was performing at venues like The Whiskey in LA to the Hard Rock Cafe. Scott stayed busy in the music scene and is now focused with many projects delivering a high energy show with quality musicianship. About me? Not much to tell. I was born in SJ and grew up in Gilroy. No formal training, a few lessons here and there, but mostly me listening to records is how I got started in playing. I started with drums first at around 5 or so. Then piano and guitar at 9 and 10. Some time in high school someone told me I could sing and I actually believed them.

Jeff Payne had his formal musical education at the University of Iowa and the University of North Texas where he studied trumpet performance on scholarship with David Greenhoe and music composition. He took up the bass as a side instrument and found it came very easy to him and allowed him to express his love of the pocket in a new way. He would put it all into practice four sets a night gigging with various local bands throughout Texas and the Southwest. As a bassist and singer, he worked with an extensive array of performers including Matt Chamberlain (Saturday Night Live, Tori Amos) and John Gaither. I think that almost every genre of music has something that makes it compelling to the listener. It’s just a matter of finding the chewy center and digging into it. I’ve always made it a point to find that center and enjoy it, consume it and get dirty with it.

I was thinking today that people have been asking about my band LoveKraft and I had no real answers as to if we would reunite once I move back to the Bay area. I think the answer is it depends on the writing as always. If I have something new then we will pull it together. It has to have style and meat as always.

My Las Vegas band, Drive Machine is taking a break right now. JZ and I are continuing on with writing and are looking for a female front person/singer…

Here is what we are looking for…

Songwriters are starting a new project and looking for a rock singer. Think Flyleaf & Paramore meet Evanescence vocal style…

We we will be writing new material around your ability and range…. The perfect singer would also play keys or guitar.
Complete this sentence… If I could do anything in life it would be…

If you think this may be right for you, contact us with pics, bio, video and or audio samples. Experience is less important than ability. We can help…
